The capital’s biggest Christmas celebration, Winter Wonderland, returns to Hyde Park 21st November to 5th January! Now over 10 years old, this extravagant celebration of everything wintery has rightly become a London stalwart: with unbeatable Christmas markets, top-notch entertainment, fairground rides and a host of festive attractions, it’s little wonder it attracts over 3 million visitors each year!
This free-to-enter family event offers enough entertainment and activities to fill both day and evening. Skate to live music on the UK’s largest outdoor Ice Rink; watch world-class skaters in Paddington on Ice – The Grand Voyage; see London’s spectacular Christmas illuminations from on high on the Giant Observation Wheel; follow a journey through time in the Magical Ice Kingdom, which takes you through Christmas classic A Christmas Carol; create your own masterpiece at the Ice Sculpting Workshop; or fill up with festive cheer at the Winter Wonderland Comedy Club. There’s a special entertainment programme for children, too – and, of course, the opportunity to meet Santa in his grotto.
If you’re a fan of Christmas markets, Winter Wonderland won’t disappoint, offering not one but two markets! There’s the traditional German Christmas Market – one of the largest in London with over 200 charming chalets; but there’s also the Angels Christmas Market, where stalls offer quirkier, unique gifts, from innovative crafts and trinkets to handcrafted jewellery and garments.
There’s plenty to tempt your taste buds, too: try traditional German dishes in the Bavarian Village, like German sausage and glühwein; sip a frosty cocktail in the Ice Bar, where the bar, tables, and glasses are made from ice; sing some Christmas karaoke at Bar Hütte, whilst sampling festive food and cocktails; or simply try a smorgasbord of artisan products from the Christmas markets.
