Clothing collections held in Paddington

Clothing collections held in Paddington

Paddington is hosting two Christmas clothing collections for the homeless this winter – at Merchant Square and Paddington Central.

Between 12 and 23 November, Paddington Central are supporting the Calling London appeal. This entirely volunteer-run charity was established in 2010 and collects and distributes coats of all shapes, sizes and styles to people in need across London. Donations can be dropped at reception in 3 Sheldon Square and number 2 and number 4 Kingdom Street; before they are collected, sorted and distributed by the Calling London volunteers.

At the other end of Paddington Basin, Merchant Square are collecting clothes and toiletries for West London Mission’s facility on nearby Seymour Place. This local day centre serves breakfast to approximately 100 homeless people each morning; as well as providing access to showers, laundry, haircuts and health checks. There is a donation box located in the foyer at 5 Merchant Square.

Items on the West London Mission wish list:

Toiletries:

Toothbrushes
Toothpaste
Shower gel
Shampoo
Towels

Clothing:

Men’s Socks
Men’s Underwear
Men’s Jeans (waist 30 – 38)
Men’s T-shirts (M/L)
Men’s shoes (especially trainers size 8-12)

If you do not have unwanted items at home to donate, but would like to support this local cause, the charity is running a crowdfunding campaign to transform its building into a thriving community centre. The first stage is to complete a feasibility study at a cost of £72,000. Pledge your commitment by 17 December, to help support the regeneration of this space.
